Serum stability & Protein corona

See what blood does to your nanoparticle.

Our service helps drug developers advance nanomedicine formulations through clinical phases by assessing bioavailability and enabling early decision making — rather than testing every formulation the hard way.

Most nanomedicines never reach patients. One reason is often overlooked: the moment a particle meets blood, proteins coat it, and that coat helps decide where it goes and whether it survives. Our workflow delivers an interpreted report on stability and protein corona, using a standardized AF4, light scattering and LC-MS/MS method. This gives teams answers on which particles survive serum and have a favorable corona profile before moving to costly animal and clinical studies.

For teams developing nanomedicines: (targeted) lipid nanoparticles (LNP), polymeric particles, proteins, ADCs and ADX therapeutics.

Why SerumScreen

A protein layer forms in seconds

The moment a nanoparticle enters the blood, proteins coat its surface. This protein corona can change how long the particle circulates, where it ends up and how cells respond to it, and so it shapes the particle's pharmacokinetics.

Expertise and a workflow built for it

Measuring the corona takes hands-on knowledge of nanoparticle formulation, particle separation and proteomics. We combine that expertise with a specialized workflow, from serum incubation to an interpreted report.

We standardize it, because results vary

When similar samples were sent to 17 proteomics facilities, only 1.8% of proteins were identified consistently.¹ We run every project through one documented workflow, so your results stay comparable between formulations and over time.

How it works

  1. Incubate

Exposure to full human serum conditions.

  2. Separate

Separation techniques separate particles from unbound protein.

  3. Characterize

Light scattering and gel electrophoresis check size, stability and bound protein.

  4. Identify and interpret (Tier 2)

LC-MS/MS identifies and quantifies the bound proteins. Every project ends with a written, interpreted report.
